This blanket replaced another Sunbeam electric blanket from about five years ago. The older blanket didn't work very well. It was slow to heat and didn't seem to heat if there wasn't a body underneath it (??). With some concern (and mostly just a lack of choice) we went back to another Sunbeam blanket. Big difference.The preheat functions works perfectly, heating the blanket up just enough to take the edge off cold Wisconsin sheets. Preheating takes just a few minutes. The regular settings work well too.The control is better in that it sits on the night table. No more searching around under the bed and blankets for the control. Using the control is intuitive and easily done in the fog of sleep.The material is the sort of super soft plushy stuff I've seen for scarfs and the like. We like it so far. We'll see how it holds up in the wash.The blanket itself is very light in weight, almost unnoticeable. Size is generous for a queen. There is no edging on the blanket. It was the edging coming off the old Sunbeam that caused us to finally replace it.The wiring seems to be allocated in the blanket nicely. As with all of these blankets, you can see/feel the wiring. Compared to the other Sunbeam we had, the wiring here seems lighter and more flexible, not nearly as noticeable.
